Classic Rock Rewind with Bachman-Turner Overdrive

Bachman-Turner Overdrive or BTO was a hard driving Rock band that had a string of hits in the 70’s. Randy Bachman and Fred Turner teamed up to form this high flying, hard rockin band that produced their first and second album in 1973.  The self-titled first album didn’t produce a hit but their second album, 2 managed two hits in “Takin Care Of Business” and “Let It Ride”.

Their third album titled “Not Fragile” was released in 1974 and proved to be their most popular and by far my favorite. This album featured hits such as “You Aint Seen Nothing Yet”, “Roll On Down The Highway”, the self titled track “Not Fragile”, and a few of my favorites in “Blue Moanin”, “Givin It All Away”, and ”Rock Is My Life, And This Is My Song”.

Their fourth album was released in 1975 titled Four Wheel Drive and featured their radio hit “Hey You”.  The band struggled to keep the same people with little success. Co-founder Randy Bachman soon left the band after their sixth album was cut in 1977.

BTO has always been one of my favorite bands as their hard charging style of music was right down my alley of preference. Below are some audio links of some of their better songs. I personally use and prefer Windows Media Player for everything that it will handle.

Hey You

Roll On Down The Highway

Takin Care Of Business

You Aint Seen Nothing Yet

Givin It All Away

Not Fragile

Let It Ride

Rock Is My Life, And This Is My Song

Blue Moanin

That wraps it up for this weeks Rewind. I hope you enjoyed your time with BTO and please come back again. Feel free to spend some time checking out Music OverDrive as a whole. I am constantly trying to get new stuff posted for my music friends.

Still Rocking With Those Classics

When it comes right down to it, there are regular songs and then there are those that are anything but that. I am talking about those favorite songs that we all have that when you hear them on the radio you tend to crank up the sound a little higher than normal.

They never seem to get old and you certainly never get tired of hearing them. Every so often I get caught in a crosswind of this elevator type music that, in my opinion, is not music. Not my choice anyway. When I hear this junk I want to blast them out some real tunes. You know, crank up some or give them a double dose of Foghat. It would be cool to even light up their ears with some Black Oak Arkansas. Have Jim Dandy come to their rescue.

I know most of those elevator listeners would cringe when my music met their eardrums but that’s OK because turnabout is fair play. What I want to see is my grandchildren come for a visit and say, Hey Grandpa, I love you, crank us up some . Okay Babe, Jump up here in my lap and tell what song is it you want to hear. Now that is what I want to hear!
