Classic Rock Rewind with Boston
This week’s “Rewind” features the band Boston. A staple of the 70’s and 80’s Classic Rock scene Boston had a unique sound that pretty much carved their name right into their music. They launched their self-titled debut album called “Boston” in August of 1976. This album was a blistering success and quickly pushed them into the spotlight of Classic Rock stardom.
Some bands have what it takes to produce an album that every song on it was very good. Boston’s debut album was one of those. It featured such hit songs as “More Than A Feeling”, “Peace Of Mind”, “Foreplay/Long Time”, “Rock And Roll Band”, “Smokin”, and “Let Me Take You Home Tonight”.
Their second album titled “Don’t Look Back” actually did better on the charts than the first album but I was partial to the first album and would be hard pressed to sway me from that. This album was released in 1978 and had hits like, “Don’t Look Back”, and “Party”.
They released a third album in 1986 called “Third Stage”, a fourth in 1994 titled “Walk On”, and a fifth in 2002 titled “Corporate America”.
Here is a video of my all time favorite song by Boston.

I seen Boston in concert back in 1977 and that was one hell of a show. Sammy Hagar opened for them. I sure did hate to hear about Brad’s death. Such a huge loss. His energy on stage could spill over and make everyone feel good. Boston’s music could never match their best output without him. IMHO.
That’s it for this week’s Classic Rock Rewind with Boston. Thanks for stopping by Music OverDrive and don’t forget to vote in the Classic Rock Battle Of The Bands.

Journey–> Then And Now
Welcome to Music OverDrive’s newest venture called “Then And Now”. Each week we will spotlight a different Classic Rock band and show footage of each then, and now. This week’s featured band is Journey and the song is “Wheel In The Sky”.. The first video is from Journeys younger years with Steve Perry at lead vocals from way back “Then” in 1978.

The “Now” version of Journey has Arnel Pineda at lead vocals. Pineda is a Filipino singer and came from a cover band that did Journey songs. Steve Perry left the band in 1998. Pineda was hired in 2007. The only two that made it all the way and are in both the videos are Neal Schon and Ross Valory on lead and bass guitar. Here is Journey Now.
There is a good video of Journey doing “Wheel In The Sky” over on the “Live Video’s” Page from one of their concerts back in 1981.
OK, that wraps it up for this episode of Classic Rock Then And Now with Journey. Check back next week for installment number two of this weekly event to see which band takes us from then to now. Thanks for stopping by Music OverDrive.
